Abstract
This project introduces a smart, IoT-based fume extraction system aimed at improving industrial and laboratory air quality. It utilizes gas sensors to detect harmful pollutants such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO), and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These sensors are connected to a microcontroller that continuously monitors the air and triggers an exhaust system when pollution levels exceed safety limits. The data is simultaneously sent to a cloud server, allowing real-time monitoring through a mobile application. Users can access live alerts, view historical trends, and manage the system remotely. The design is modular and based on open-source IoT platforms, making it cost-effective, scalable, and easy to maintain. The system not only ensures safer working conditions but also optimizes energy usage and introduces predictive maintenance by analyzing long-term air quality patterns. This solution is ideal for modern industries seeking automation, safety, and regulatory compliance.
