Abstract
AbstractDiabetes in children has emerged as a growing concern globally, with distinct pathophysiology and management strategies compared to adults. While type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) predominantly affects children due to autoimmune beta-cell destruction, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increasingly prevalent among adolescents due to rising obesity rates. This review comprehensively examines the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of pediatric diabetes. The paper also explores emerging therapies and complications, emphasizing individualized treatment plans tailored to the specific needs of children. The ultimate aim is to enhance understanding and guide effective intervention strategies to improve the quality of life for pediatric patients with diabetes.IntroductionDiabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia due to defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both.
