Abstract
Data security is crucial across all fields, particularly in forensic investigations where data integrity and provenance are essential. With the rise in cybercrime, forensic data must be tamper-resistant, as attacks on sensitive information can undermine the reliability of evidence. Digital evidence often passes through various intermediaries, including pathology laboratories, doctors, and police departments. Ensuring data immutability across this forensic chain is critical to maintaining trust and transparency. Blockchain technology offers an ideal solution, providing a decentralized and transparent system for handling forensic data without reliance on a central authority. The proposed system, implemented on the Ethereum platform, achieves high integrity, traceability, and immutability, making tampering detectable at any stage. Blockchain's secure structure supports a system where forensic reports can be securely transferred, tracked, and verified, ensuring trustworthiness throughout the investigation process. In addition, a public-facing chatbot module has been introduced to improve access to information about forensic processes. This chatbot serves as a resource for individuals seeking clarity on rules, regulations, and standards associated with evidence handling and case management. By offering real-time responses, the chatbot bridges information gaps, empowering the public with insights into the secure handling and transparency upheld in forensic evidence management. This dual approach combining advanced blockchain security with accessible public information aims to foster greater awareness, trust, and accountability in forensic investigations.
