Abstract
Memory architectures are fundamental components in computing systems, playing a critical role in storing and accessing data. This review paper provides an overview of various memory architectures with a highlight on hybrid and concurrent memory architectures, ranging from traditional Static Random-Access Memory (SRAM) and Dynamic Random-Access Memory (DRAM) to emerging technologies such as Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) and 3D-stacked memories. The characteristics, advantages, and limitations of each architecture is explored, highlighting their suitability for different applications. Additionally, recent advancements, challenges, and future trends in memory design are discussed, including the integration of novel materials and device structures, neuromorphic computing, and in-memory computing paradigms. Understanding the diverse landscape of memory architectures is essential for designing efficient and scalable computing systems to meet the growing demands of modern applications and technologies. Keywords: Special Memory architectures, Hybrid memory, concurrency
