Abstract
The project, "Unveiling Social Sentiments: A Comprehensive Analysis of Reddit Posts," investigates the application of sentiment analysis in understanding the information gleaned from Reddit posts. As a highly popular social media website, Reddit presents an extensive store of user-generated content, and as such, is an ideal source to grasp public opinion about topics, brands, products, and services. This project is to analyze the sentiments expressed through Reddit comments and posts and categorize them as positive, negative, or neutral.It provides an understanding of public opinion by making business and research applications of analysis on user discussions related to specific topics. Thus, through NLP techniques and the usage of sentiment analysis tools, it processes large volumes of Reddit data to generate meaningful insights from text. These provide advantages for trend analysis, product feedback, and competitor analysis for businesses, which can help in making informed decisions.It deals with problems like handling mixed-language comments, slang, ambiguous phrases, and the contextual nature of sentiment. To address such issues, the project uses resources such as SentiWordNet to classify sentiments, but also has techniques for the management of human language complexity that includes short terms and emotionally charged expressions.Ultimately, the project is a means for businesses to access real-time sentiment data from Reddit posts, offering valuable perspectives on customer preferences, public opinion, and emerging trends.
