Abstract
With the passage of time, it is a fact that the structural component loses its strength and capacity due to various reasons to carry the superimposed load subjected to it. Hence it is very important and necessary to evaluate the strength and the performance of Bridges and other structure from time to time in order to determine its residual strength and to ensure the safety of the structure. There are different experimental method available which are used to perform the load rating analysis and there is no provision to perform the same analysis analytically as per the Indian Standard, the software which are used to perform the analysis are the Csi Bridge and Midas Civil software and the only code which is available on these software through which the Rating analysis can be done are AASHTO LFRD codes. In this paper the same work of rating analysis is trying to be achieved through the Midas Civil Software analytically but as per the Indian Standards. In this research paper two Reinforced Cement Concrete and two Pre stressed concrete Box Girder Superstructure of span length 40m each is modelled and analyzed as per Indian Codes subjected to Loads as per IRC:6-2017. All the model represents the age of the structure at a particular time, the first model represents the newly constructed stage while the other model represents the condition of the structure after a time period of 70 years. The bridge model is analyzed with the help of Midas Civil software and the load carrying capacity is evaluated on the basis of different statistical parameters such as:- factored Bending moment, Shear Force, vertical displacement and the comparison of the strength of the model is carried out. It was found out that the bridge loses its capacity to sustain load and its strength after the time period of 70 years but on comparison PSC bridge was found to be more economical and efficient as compared to the RCC Model. The approach used in this paper in order to perform the analysis can also be used on different bridges such as RCC and PSC I Girder, T Girder, cable stayed bridges and suspension bridges.
