Abstract
Internal combustion engines (ICEs) remain a crucial technology powering transportation and industry worldwide. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of the technical aspects of ICEs, covering their thermodynamics, combustion processes, design and analysis, control systems, emissions, fuels and lubricants, and applications. We highlight the key research areas and technological advancements within each domain, focusing on improving efficiency, reducing emissions, and exploring alternative fuels. Additionally, we discuss the future trends in ICE technology. This paper aims to provide a critical analysis of the current state of ICE technology and its prospects in shaping and energy.
