Abstract
In today's world, it is often challenging for family members to always be available to care for the elderly, especially as nuclear families dominate our society. The issue of elderly care is particularly concerning in developing nations. Despite their best intentions, older adults sometimes struggle to remember to take their medications on time. This raises concerns about their ability to independently manage their medication. One solution to this problem is the use of an automatic medicine dispenser. Such devices dispense medications at the prescribed times while also notifying caregivers. Although many medicine dispensers incorporate similar IoT functionality, they differ in design and dispensing mechanisms. These variations are largely due to differences in the type and size of medications. Since medications come in a variety of shapes and sizes, the key challenge lies in designing a dispenser that can accommodate and dispense all types of medicines effectively. This paper provides an in-depth review of the design and dispensing mechanisms of automatic medicine dispensers.
