Abstract
Liposomes, sphere-shaped vesicles consisting of one or more phospholipid bilayers.A number of clinicalstudies have now demonstrated the superiority of liposomal drug formulations over conventionaldelivery systems. Liposomes Characterize an advanced technology to deliver active molecules to the siteof action,and at present, several formulations are in clinical use. Liposomes, as versatile lipid-basednanoparticles, have emerged as promising drug delivery systems in recent years.This comprehensivereview aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the advancements, challenges, and potential applicationsof liposomes in drug delivery. the last few years, many techniques have been utilized to enhance thepharmacological activity of any Active Pharmaceutical Drug API resulting in better bioavailability andlesser side effects. Liposomes are a drug delivery system that is adaptable and optimistic. The benefitsof liposomes over other drug delivery systems include site-targeting, prolonged or controlledrelease,protection of drugs from degradation and clearance, higher therapeutic effects, and fewer toxicadverse effects. As effective drug carriers in pre- clinical and clinical studies, liposomes provide a widerange of benefits and uses.
